Autorun.inf Virus Prevention
If you will try to search the Google Trends for the keyword: autorun.inf virus, you will find that many of the infection of this variant of virus are more on countries like Philippines and India. Google trends is a tool from Google that allows you to compare the popularity of a certain keyword in different geographic location. This result from Google Trends shows that there are still a lot of people who are infected by the computer virus that uses the file autorun.inf to spread itself. Now, I have decided to write this to give you idea on how to prevent this kind of infection. Here it goes: 1. Avoid using your flash drives or USB sticks in public computers.
2. Update your anti-virus regularly.
3. Another trick is to create a folder on your drives (root directory or main directory of drive C to Z) with a name: AUTORUN.INF. This will make your USB sticks and drives "immune" to autorun.inf viruses. It is because that viruses can't override the created folder with their autorun.inf file.
4. Disable the AutoRun via the registry if you know how but actually if you already perform step 3, you don't need to do this. Hope this tips help you cope with this kind of malicious programs. Good luck! |
